Yes, having long hair can be a pain sometimes...it requires quite a bit of time, but I've wanted long hair my entire life. Fact...I was pretty much bald until I was 2.Peach fuzz, yes. Hair, no.

When I was little, maybe 7 or 8, I used to wear turtle necks on my head and just whip them around like I had long hair.This is the story that my family likes to tell my boyfriends. {My sense of humor}

I'm not afraid to be me.

I'm hoping to make it to the movies soon.

I have a bit, ok a lot, of an addiction to bathing suits.

{Week 3} Weekly Average 1117Goal 1200 {Week 4}Weekly Average 1033Goal 1200 My weekly average is counting the calories burned while working out.I don't want anyone getting the idea that I'm not consuming enough calories. I'm doing pretty well with eating. I crave apples and oranges during the days now.I almost always have an apple for snack and an orange with my lunch.I eat yoplait fat free yogurt every day at lunch. Delish!I'm loving sandwich thins which are only 100 calories. This is still a work in progress for me.For example, I had IHOP for breakfast this morning.Started adding it into myfitnesspal before we got our food and I immediately lost my appetite.I know it is ok to splurge, but that food is so gross and afterwards I literally felt sick. I'm still trying to break the soda habit.This is the hardest thing for me and I look forward to my daily soda at lunch.I'm not sure I can kick this habit. I am absolutely loving zumba on Monday's and Wednesday's.I go to 2 classes in a row on both of these nights.Other than that, I am stumped on what to do.I need to start doing my home videos.I have turbo jam, 30 day shred, and zumba.That is my goal this week. 101 in 1001 update

13. Visit friends in other states.I just booked my flight to Chicago for Spring Break. I'm so excited to visit Shelbs and Evan and to see their new place. 62. Try 50 new foods.I tried crab wontons this weekend.Yes, I almost threw up but I did try it. Def NOT my thing. 67. Print 50 pictures a month.I am so behind on this, but I did just print like 200 pictures. Yah!I'm deteremined to get caught up and get all my pics into picture albums. 96. Plan a trip with my closest girlfriends.NASHVILLE...post coming soon! 97. Leave a 100% tip for someone.{3/6} 52 Weekly Resolutions that I've completed. Week 1-Make an anger punch list.I started making my bed daily. It's amazing how much this affects my mood in the evenings when I come home to a nicely made bed. Week 3-Invest in a bag of impressive marshmellows.I took marshmellows to our craft party recently. Not sure anyone ate any, but I did take them. I love everything in this store.

I've always loved this store, but I went in there on Sunday and literally wanted to buy everything that I saw.It will hurt my wallet, but I am going to revamp my entire wardrobe with the help of this store.

Fabulous Valentines Challenge: Best/Worst Date

I am a little late considering this challenge started yesterday, but I am combining day 1 and 2.Topic: Best/Worst Date I've had lots of good dates and only a few bad dates, but here goes.Best dateNew Orleans-Christmas 2011Celebration in the Oaks

Christmas lights, mixed with great company (Kent), mixed with rides!

This is definitely my kind of date!

The only thing that would have made it better would have been ice skating, but it was closed.

I wish that I had taken some good pics of Kent and I,

but it was kinda freezing and I was just trying to stay warm.

Worst Date

It was a blind date set up by my sister-in-law.

We were meeting at California Pizza Kitchen for dinner.

I might have had a little shooter in the car before I went in because I was so super nervous and I thought it would help my nerves.

Instead, I was a laughing machine...I literally COULD NOT stop laughing.

This guy probably thought he the funniest human alive.

It wasn't a great match anyway, but I'm pretty sure my DRINK would have screwed things up anyways.

Note to self.

Hold the shooter next time.

I did get a free meal at one of my favorite places though.

That's a plus!

I've been on one other blind date and it was equally as bad.

I guess blind dating is not really my thing.

Happy "Mon" day

{Nashville}was amazing {Period}.More on this later...My birthday was amazing and was spent with a few of my very best friends.I'm very sad that my bff, Shelbs, couldn't come but I will be seeing her very soon! {MK}Before we left Nashville yesterday, we stopped by the mall and specifically went into Michael Kors.I am in love with the rose gold watch that I tried on.OHHH EMMM GEEE...GORGEOUS!My birthday + Valentines Day + Tax Return = I'm getting it.I really need this watch! {Lottery}I won $20 yesterday from scratch off lottery tickets.I was so excited and owe it to my lucky penny that I found on heads. {Bday Dinner}Last night, my brother-in-law and sister (who I live with} cooked me dinner (my choice) for my birthday.I chose pork chops...I was convinced that I hated pork chops until I ate one that my brother-in-law had cooked and now I'm a little obsessed with them.So I got home from Nashville around 6:45 and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that my sister had done all of my laundry. Happy birthday to me!That is sisterly love there, my friends. {Traveling}I have a bad, bad case of the traveling bug.From the moment we crossed the Alabama line, we were already talking about where we could go next.Recommendations are welcome.For affordable weekend getaways, it would be nice to stay within a 5 hour range of Birmingham. {Happy Mingling} Happy "my day" lovelies!!

It's OK.... that the manager at Snap Fitness extended my free week trial until Feb 1.Yah...I don't have to join just yet.Although I do plan on joining. that I still cannot stop watching The Bachelor...even though it's pretty dreadful. that I think this is hilarious!! that this week has been absolutely CRAZY.My students are so wack that I would swear every day this week has been a full moon. that every night this week, I have had a small bowl of Eclair.Heaven in a dish!

Not only am I working out hard saying "I think I can, I think I can"...now I'm saying I know I can if I want to have some Eclair tonight!

Friday night was another successful craft party.

I'm loving my map frame that I did.

I chose 12 places that I've been, I will make another when I have 12 new places to add.
I realized that I forgot about Indianapolis, Stanford CT, Myrtle Beach, and probably a few more so maybe I'll have 12 more to add sooner rather than later.

I def rocked a fishtail braid this weekend. I wore it to my niece's birthday party.

My nephew loved that it was called a fishtail. Haha

I'm always looking for easy fixes.

My hair is soo long so somtimes I just need a break from straightening/curling.

Week 3 Recap

I worked out so hard this week. Even though I skipped working out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

It's ok not to work out every day even though I do feel a little guilty for it.

My weight 3 weeks ago ranged between 121 and 122.

My weight this morning was 116.

I think the reason why that hasn't dropped more since last week is because I am working out hard and building muscle which weighs more than fat.

I loved elliptical machines in college, but I am pretty bored by them now.

I much prefer zumba, hiking, or walking/jogging outside.

I think this week I will try to mix it up a bit.

I found my tubro jam last week and I am getting my 30 day shred back from my sister this week.

I am hoping that planning this out ahead of time will help me to be accountable.

It has been bobbling between 199 and 200 for most of the week,

but I think maybe 200 is finally here to stay.

3 years ago, I started this blog as a keepsake of the happenings in my life...

it is so much more than that now.

I have "met" so many wonderful people who I adore...I feel like we are all real-life friends.

So many of you inspire me to do great things.

I have grown so much as a person in the last 3 years and I hope my blog has captured that.

Yes, I may come off as a "positive polly" sometimes, but that is really just me.

I always try to look at the positive in things...

sometimes I think worrying about the negative is just a waste of time.

Now don't get me wrong, I have plenty of flaws but the things that I struggle with most in life are pretty deep and I sometimes don't know how to get it down in words.

That is something I am striving for this year.

I want to be "real" on my blog and I want to share my insecurities with all of you.

I know a lot of us share some of the same struggles and we, as bloggers and friends, are always very willing to share our experiences with one another.

I just want to thank you all for being a part of my blog and my life.

True story...

I was in such a wierd Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.

Wednesday night, I did cardio and weights and then did zumba.

I smiled during the entire zumba class.

I promise that is the best feeling ever.

The room was full of women, and 1 guy, all different sizes,

but we were all having so much fun dancing and acting crazy.

It was really cool, feeling like I had such a connection with all of the women in that class, even though I had never met any of them.

that I was so excited for all of my shows to start back this week, but I still haven't watched any of them. I have a lazy Friday night spent catching up to look forward to.

I think that means I am getting old...arrrg.

I am almost 26....shhh don't tell anybody!

Being sore means I worked out hard, right?

Ok, good because I almost died last night.

It's so worth it!

that I have to spend $315 on new retainers because my precious little bundle of fur chewed mine up...because I really needed new ones anyways. that I almost ate an Oreo cakester yesterday before I realized how many calories were in ONE!Holy smokes...So NOT worth it! that I spent too much money buying online deals yesterday...but they are well, deals, and I cannot resist! I cleaned out/organized/color coded my closet the other day. I also cleaned out all of my drawers and got myself all organized. It feels so good and I'm loving it!

My closet was color coded and sorted by tanks/short sleeved/long sleeeves/etc. all through high school and college, but because of last of space I haven't had it that organized in a while.

I finally had enough and took the bull by the horns.

I am giving lots of stuff away and I don't think I will miss any of it!

A few freinds and I are trying to get together a trip to Nashville for our birthdays.

That I cannot stop watching the Bachelor even though its 95% fake and a little too much for me to handle this season.

that I can't commit to races on Saturday's because I feel like it's my one day to really sleep in.

I'm absolutely ecstatic that Alabama won the BSC National Championship game Monday night!

I'm loving, even more, that it was a complete shutout.

We had a little get together at my friend, Heather's.

and had such a wonderful time watching this game with our fellow alums.

I'm loving that my day off was very productive and started with a 2 hour hike, partially in the rain.

We are awesome like that!

I have been obsessing over eating organically lately.

By the way, I'm also loving MyFitnessPal and my new scale!

I have eaten so well the past couple of days and I'm pretty sure that I am building the foundation for the rest of my life...

I know that sounds corny, but I am so dedicated this time

It measure body fat and stores my information. I'm so pumped!

I try not to obsess over my weight, but I do think it will help motivate me when I see the pounds coming off.

Saturday morning, I went hiking.

I love to hike and it's such a good workout.

The weather was amazing and Coral was a natural.

Saturday night was game night with some friends.

Week 1 Recap

I did pretty well this week as far as drinking more water and eating more fruits and veggies,

but I still have some areas of improvement.

I really struggle right when I get home from school because I'm always so hungry and I start snacking.

The calories really rack up then.

Weekly Average- 1798 calories

Daily Goal- 1200

So I went over, but overall I still feel good about my first week.

I also did zumba, walking, dancing, and hiking this week for exercise.

I have decided to give myself one day to splurge and yesterday was the day.

Pizza and beer...really kills the whole calorie counting thing, but that's ok.

Next week, I am aiming for a lower weekly average.

As far as my 101 in 1001...

I am giving blood tomorrow.

I have found 2 bikes on Craigslist that I deciding between.

I entered a contest to win 2 free tickets to see Wicked in February.

I have listened to my daily audio bible every day.

I planned to go to church this morning, but woke up feeling really sickly.

I wish everyone a very healthy Sunday!

That I have been so exhausted these past 2 days...

getting back into my work routine is proving to be a difficult task.

That I still haven't even gotten my suitcase out of my trunk from my NOLA trip...unpacking is the worst and it will depress me to have to stare at my suitcase until I finally get around to unpacking it. That I still have my Christmas decorations up...give me a little break, I was out of town until Monday night. That I can't wait until this weekend to do absolutely nothing, but sleep in, unpack, and do some deep cleaning. That I haven't actually fixed my hair since Monday...it's been a week of ponytails for me.

and It's DEFINITELY ok that someone told me last week that I look likeMILA KUNIS!!

And I think with that, I am done!

Bear Naked

It's time for WILW with Jamie

I'm loving a lot today!

{Bear Naked}I'm loving that I have decided, in an attempt to live healthier, to eat more natural/organic foods(hints the title).

I have been feeling so unhealthy lately and yesterday I felt so inspired to change the way that I eat.

I made a trip to Wal-Mart after work yesterday and bought only organic foods...

fruits

veggies

whole grain bread

granola

eggs

and nuts.

Along with my healthier eating habits, I started zumba yesterday.

I loved zumba when I lived in NY so I decided what better way to kick of 2012.

I have never really given much thought to processed foods...

I always just figured eating anything at home is better than fast food.

After watching Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, I just feel so motivated to try to live healthier.

It's going to be hard at first to give up some of my favorite treats,

but I know that after a week I will feel soooo much better!

I found a great website, Processed Free America, that gives some great resources for living a more natural lifestyle.

These are a few of the suggestions I found on the website that I really want to focus on...

Eat an abundance of fruits and vegetables.

Eliminate artificial sweeteners.

Eat more whole grain foods.

Minimize exposure to pesticides.

Avoid as many chemical additives as possible.

If any of you feel like joining me on this journey, I would love a support system.

I was so sad to leave, but I'm so ready to see Coral.

I'm going to do a 7 day fast on fruit and veggie juice only.

Monkey Mind

So I've spent my day today walking up and down Magazine Street, a popular street for shopping in New Orleans!

I ate lunch and then walked, walked, and walked some more. I went in some boutiques, antique shops, and a wedding shop (just because).

While pondering the items in the wedding shop, I came across a little book called "1,001 Ways to Live in the Moment" by Barbara Ann Kipfer.

I would consider myself to live in the moment, but after reading chapter 1, I realized that boy was I wrong. Instead, I have realized that I have the mind of a monkey which means that my consciousness resembles that of a restless monkey. I try to do too many things at once, creating a state known as "monkey mind".

As I think back to my day, I never once just enjoyed the fresh air and took in my surroundings. I was constantly texting, taking phone calls, tweeting, and taking pictures.

I feel like all of these these things are ok once you master living in the moment and realize that it is ok to put your phone away for five hours and just enjoy life. I never ever do this. I always have my phone and when it's dying, I kind of feel like I'm dying too. Not really, but it def stresses me out because I rely on my phone for everything!!!

As I read my book, I am going I share some strategies and insights so that we can all live in the moment.

These are a few things that I am really going to focus in on over the next few days!

Time management-
prioritize and be efficient

Be independent from technology-
be ok with not having my phone attached to my hand at all times.

Be aware of my day to day activities.
habit is a thief of awareness

Meditate-
you will breathe more deeply and see more wonders

You will become more insightful, more content, and maybe more trusting.

Be attentive to yourself and others.
Not just friends and family, but also neighbors, coworkers, and even strangers.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this post.
I'm excited to read the rest of my book and learn how to fully live in the moment.

I'm now putting my phone in my purse for the rest of the night. I'm out!

{Christmas}

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I had a weekend full of Christmas festivities.

I love family get togethers and this year def didn't disappoint.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to upload my pictures.

Friday night was Christmas number 1 at my moms and step dads.

Saturday morning was Christmas number 2 at my dad and step moms.

Saturday afternoon was Christmas number 3 at my aunts house and then we all headed to my cousins Christmas eve night.

One of the few pictures me and coral on Christmas Eve.

{Blakely}

My niece, Blakely, who is 11 months old spent her first Christmas at Children's Hospital.

It all started on Christmas Eve while we were at my aunt's house.

Blakely woke up from a nap and started acted really strange. She was very lethargic and unresponsive for about 10 minutes. We were all freaking out so my sister and my mom took her to the fire department to have her checked out.

All of her stats were ok, but they took her by ambulance to the ER because they weren't sure what caused her seizure-like episode.

They ran some tests and discovered that her white blood cell count was elevated. She also has a bacterial infection. They are waiting for lab results to see if the infection has spread to her blood.

Bless her heart, she has had a rough few days!

We spent Christmas day at the hospital visiting my sweet baby.

Please keep her in your prayers. I sure hope she gets to go home today.

Santa has been postponed until she is released from the hospital.

Big sister did get to open 1 present at the hospital.

Fortunately, she isn't old enough to know that Christmas was yesterday.

I tracked him from Canada to Arkansas before I fell asleep. So cool!

Today, I'm traveling by train to New Orleans. I'm so excited!!!

It's OK that TOMS came to the rescue this year as far as gifts go.

It's OK that my sisters and I took 5 kids to the mall today....sounds manageable, but boy were we wrong!

It's ok that I am trying to eat super healthy (Yes, right before Christmas)...

even though it is probably useless.

It's ok that my radio in my car stopped working...

even though it gives me a little too much time alone with my thoughts

and literally nothing else.

It's ok that I always stock up on magazines when I fly

and fold down half the pages...

even though I rarely ever refer back to them.

It's ok that I haven't bought one Christmas present yet...

even though I will be totes stressed about it come next week when I begin my shopping.

It's ok that I finally cleaned me room...

{Christmas Cards}

Everyone that I sent cards to should have received them by now so I can finally share which one I picked.

I always use Shutterfly...this year my cards kind of broke the bank.

I looked through every card they offered and then when I went to compare the ones I liked, they all just so happened to be Erin Condren cards...which are a little more pricey than some of the other cards offered, but I just couldn't find any other card that I loved.

I LOVED all of the Erin Condren designs.

Go figure!

{12 Dates of Christmas}

I loved this movie...

My sister and I watched it Monday night.

So cute!

{New Girl}

Most of my shows are done until after Christmas, but I loved that New Girl was new last night.

I'm pretty sure that this is my absolute favorite show right now.

I love it!

{Tacky Christmas}

I'm loving the tacky Christmas sweaters that I found at the thrift store yesterday.

They should be perfect for my Tacky Christmas party on Friday.

Don't worry, I will blog about the party next week.

Should be a blast!

Miscellany Monday

{New Orleans}

I had an amazing weekend and already want to go back.

I went to visit my friend, Kent, and we had a great time.

Friday, we spent the day at the zoo...

My favorite animals were the little black bears

and the white alligator.

Friday night, we went to Celebration in the Oaks in City Park.

It was so much fun.

There were lights everywhere.

We rode some rides...

The ferris wheel

the carousel

and all the spinny rides that I'm so shocked didn't make us sick.

We also walked around and ejoyed seeing all of the lights.

Saturday, we went to Kent's work Christmas party.

It was at an Alabama bar in NOLA and it was so much fun.

It was a blast and I am really looking forward to going back for the National Championship game.

I am starting fresh with my Vegetarian diet.
The only meat I ate this past week was pepperoni on my pizza, but a fail is a fail and I am now starting over.

My goal is to go 2 weeks.
I will keep you all posted.

Join a gym.

Join a bible study.

Get a permanent job.

Get a new car.

Get my computer fixed.

Lose 15 pounds.

It's ok....That I went vegetarian for the week....just to try it.So far so good.
That I can't really afford to take a vacation, but booked it anyways because I had a free flight.
That my friend, Heather, and I are planning a tacky Christmas party this year.Yes, we are 25 and still love planning crazy costume parties.

That I have spent hours upon hours looking at Christmas cards, but cannot pick one that I love.

That I am taking half a day on Friday to go on vacation.

{Vacation}

So as you all know, I didn't get to go to the beach this past weekend.

I was so incredibly bummed, but it just didn't work out.

However, I figured out a way to still sneak in a little vacation this weekend.

It only cost me $5 thanks to my free flight that I earned through Southwest.

I am going to NEW ORLEANS. I am so excited!

I hope to be making a second trip there for the National Championship, which brings me to my next point.

I am loving my football team!

Bama and LSU are rematching for the national champion title.

I am so excited!!

Today's topic is how do you celebrate the holidays?

I am a very festive person.

My whole life revolves around the season/holiday.

During Christmas time especially, my life is CHRISTMAS 110%.

I drink things that remind me of Christmas...

I eat things that remind me of Christmas...

I wear things that remind me of Christmas...

This one is my personal fave...and it happens to be what I am wearing right now.

I also sport Christmas socks constantly.

I listen to nothing but Christmas music.

I watch Christmas movies as much as possible!

I always try to remember the true reason for the season.

I love all of the quality family time that comes along with the holidays.

I celebrate Jesus Christ!!
